Enema of the state is the first Blink 182 album to reach N° 1 at the billboards as a punk rock album and it is right now one of the best albums they ever produced, and the first one they recorded seiously.
it was co-produced by Jerry Finn (very famous punk ock producer that produced albums for: SUM 41, Rancid, Blink 182 ecc...).
Dumpweed is th album opener and i think it fits right cause it makes the album start with a "boom" reaction and it's also one of the hardest songs to sing for Tom.
It talks about the desire not to break-up and how a berak-up is not easyy at all.
Don't leave me is a song that talks about herpees and how somethng as simple as that can ruin relationships. It's very energeis tic and dance-y and i's sing intierly by Mark.
The song has also a bass solo in tthe middle that is very offtenly found in blink 182 songs.
Aliens exist talks about Tom's paranoia about UFOs and paranormal things, it starts great with Travis on the drums and after the vocal intro there is a riff that sounds great and that sounds vey blink-e.
it has a guitar solo that starts with a rpetition of B notes, and in the scond part it's harmonised by a 2 guitar.
Going away to college is a love song wrote and sang by Mark and singed in backing vocals by Tom, it has a vry catchy riff and vocal track that reminds a little of a rap singing style.
Needles to say it has nothing to do with going to college.
What's my age again? is a fun and dance-y song that talks about a break-up and how some peapole might react to it, it's singed by Mark and it has Tom for backing vocals.
In the video you can see for the irst time Mark, Tom and Travis runnin' naked.
Dysentery gary is vry fun to sing and dance to but it' maybe the least album appaling song for this album.
Adam's song is a song against suicide, and how peapole can feel pain but at the same time, go on and wait to fel better.
Adam is the name of an actual kid who committed suicide in 1999, right after sending a letter to blink 182, sayng he was going to do it.
All the small things is the most famous blink 182 song and it's the song that mad this aalbum become double-Platinum, it's a ballad that Tom made for his girlfriend (that now is his wife).
I only recently noticed that in the chorus there's a almost hidden guitar track that uses a whammy pedal to make the octave shift to make it more pop-y and dance-y, you can almost not har it, but if it wasn't there the song would be less pleasing in some way to the era.
The party song is a very short song sang by Mark that talks about he usual "High-school party", it's very fast but not very dance-y.....Accept for the chorus.
Mutt iss a fun and dance-y song that talks aboutsex in the most fun and disgusting/pleasing way. ""he works to bone, yes i know, she is ready to blow, they go at it every night, his pants are super tight, oh yeahhhh"
it's fun to play and to sing but the lyrics aren't very reccomendable for a family party.
Wendy clear introduces he kyboard to blink 182 in the form of an oorgan and in my opinion iit has the best chorus in the nitir album.
The riff is very "3 piece" cause the guitar is steady and the bass changes root note, creating an atmosphere where the bass is more important than the guitar.
Anthem is part 1 of a 2 part song (Anthem part 2 was made 2 years later in 2001), and it talks about the wolrd's power being given to peaple that abuse it (polititians, parents, work bosses ecc...) and how we should rise up and fiight all this...us kids.
